Collegium MUSA since 2015

Every European language has the various words for music and museum which come from ancient Greek. The word "Musa" represents originally goddesses serving Apollo in Greek mythology. They were believed as guardians of studies and arts like music, poetic, tragic, comedy, and astronomy. After the Renaissance; the rediscovering of ancient literature and art, Universities and Museums were everywhere in Europe established. It gave many European cities the basis of the development.

After the modernization in Meiji-era, many Japanese studied in Europe to introduce the western civilization to Japan. Owing to their effort of introduction, we are able to come into contact with European arts and studies without going abroad. However, compared with Europe, the Japanese modern culture still has not established its own position. It may reflect the short history in Japan, where the modern was started just hundred years ago. Collegium MUSA was organized in May, 2015 to produce concerts and lecture. Everyone who loves “sounds and words” would expose to European culture and have wonderful time with us.
